A Question for the Kickstarter: Part Two

Hello again ^^

So, we've talked about Stretch Goals, but now it's time to talk about Rewards, and what you get for your money :)

This is where we might need a little more input for exactly what you guys want! :)

We're currently trying to avoid physical rewards if possible, since shipping is a little complicated right now, however if there's high demand for physical goods, we may consider it :)

These prices are also not set in stone.  So f you think they seem unreasonable, please let us know ^^.

We may also remove rewards if they seem particularly unpopular.

Here are the rewards we had planned thus far:

One of the things currently being seriously considered is the pricing of the 'DLC' tiers, and whether to allow them before the stretch goals are reached. I really want to release the polyamourous and extra routes eventually, even if the stretch goals aren't reached, but it would take considerably longer, and probably have to wait until we have seen profits from the game. If that was the case, people would be waiting a long time for that reward, and I don't feel comfortable asking for money for something that has so dubious a timeline. It may also be that people only want one or the other, but not both, in which case we may add an option to pay less to receive only some of the DLC.

In all likeliness, I will only add the 'DLC' tiers if the stretch goals are reached, so showing them on this picture is just to show what the prices might be if they do get added ^^.

Now to turn it over to you guys. What do you think of these rewards? Are there any you can think of that we could add? What would you like to get in exchange for helping to back the game?  Let us know! :D

Idk if the game is going to have an ost but if so, that might also be a good reward. If you plan on setting up a discord community for the game, you could also offer special roles/access to extra channels.

We're definitely planning on having an original ost for the game, so that's not a bad idea. Thanks :D

I'm setting up a Discord community now, but I'm a little new to how to do it. I'll definitely consider it though ^^. I can try at least. I'm not sure how I'd price that haha, so I guess I'll research how some other Kickstarters did it.

Thank you again for the suggestions :)

But... but surely the default partners for Tommy and Ellis are each other? ๐Ÿ˜ต

Jokes aside, I know that one thing a lot of VN makers do is to let backers pay extra to beta test the game, and I was wondering if it would make sense to have the ยฃ20 tier be a beta test tier, but with the added bonus that every tier at ยฃ20 or over can get the DLC free of charge if/when it's released. Does that sound like it makes sense?

Haha, I was really hesitant with that reward for that reason ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚

That makes a lot of sense! And sounds like a really good idea actually. Thank you for the suggestion! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We're almost definitely going to go with that honestly because it quite neatly solves the issue with the DLC and is a good, non-physical reward that I hadn't considered. Thank you again ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Thinking more about the "default partners" thing:

On the one hand, I certainly feel that romanceable characters should be allowed their own lives and agency outside of their interactions with the MC, and this can include having their own romantic interactions with other characters if they're not being romanced by the MC.

On the other hand, this is what it feels like the Tommy/Ellis relationship already is, and it would feel very weird if they both just ended up dating other people at the end despite having a far more compelling relationship with each other.

On the... third(?) hand, people paying you large sums of money to help you fund the game is definitely a good thing, so I don't want to say you shouldn't do it... ๐Ÿ˜…

So, I guess I can see arguments both ways. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Yeah, it's definitely something that I've been torn about, because if it's included, it will be challenging to get it to  feel as organic and natural in the game compared to them dating a character they have a pre-established relationship with, or no one at all.

But the money for those tiers would really help towards funding the game.

I guess I'll see how it goes ^^

It might be that I think I don't need those tiers to get the game funded, or it might be that nobody picks them anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…

What if you have it so that Tommy and Ellis would end up together if you romance someone else entirely, but if you romance just Tommy, there's a default partner for Ellis, and if you romance just Ellis, there's a default one for Tommy?

That might be a good way to handle it actually :D

I'd have to make sure people were aware of that when buying the tier, and that it was equal to the others (or offer it slightly discounted maybe), but that would make a lot of sense :)

Thank you for your suggestion :D
